Default Speeding Ticket

Oh Crap! I knew I shouldn't have done it! I hopped into the Vette a little upset, and I got busted for speeding in a nearby town. I was going 40/45 (thats whats written on it) in a 30 zone, according to the ticket. Under the boxes "radar" and "estimated", the Officer checked them both. What does that mean? Any chance I might be able to get out of this? It was a pretty idiotic thing to do, I know... :U

It might mean that he clocked you at 40 while you were braking, so he estimates 45. I think that because of this you might have a better chance of getting off.

Me, on the other hand, got a 71 in a 55 two days ago. It was stupid of me, I wasn't even trying to drive fast, I was just crusin'. And not even in my Vette!! What happens when that's on the road?? (I guess I'll just have to accelerate to the speed limit as fast as possible to make up for it :yesnod: )

I feel for you guys, tickets stink, but I have two words for you.... RADAR DETECTOR. Even a cheap one is worth its price if it saves you from one ticket. For the serious speeders a Valentine One is the only way to go

Yeah, most of the time I try to stay alert & keep my eyes open....
....if I see a lot of cars braking - it's usually a cop.
Highways in Texas are really bad & if I'm in another town, I try to do the speed limit....
....Otherwise, here in Arlington, they're fairly predictable. :yesnod:

Watchout - relying on that radar detector isn't 100% - and 'pulse' guns can getcha ! ....especially if the cop just 'blips' it at specific cars & is on the other side of a hill !!!! :(

I agree, a detector is only part of the equation. Driving style and using your eyes are key elements as well. The "instant on" guys are exactly what the Valentine is for. I'll pick them up 1 to 2 miles away (even over hills). Of course if I'm the only one on the road, then I'm in trouble. Nothing will save you then (well, an EMP would).

I agree, radar detector is the way to go! I don't leave home without it! I'm near a county line, and the cops set-up near the county lines in good hiding spots. I rec'd my last ticket in the 'other' county, and that one cost me big time! The price of the detector was less than my last ticket! With the detector, I can pick them up well in advance and it has saved me countless times! It surprises me when I can pickup a radar emission coming towards me over hills and around corners, sometimes a good quarter mile away or more! :D
