anyone have any suggestions for certain brands of brake parts? i need new calipers and rotors for my 79 vette. or should i just go down to the local napa/autozone and get what they sell and save myself some money?
Not a bad question but with the beautiful weather we had in my neck of the woods today, I just got in from a 6 hour cruise.
I bought my brake parts from my local parts store and have had no problems. They will work fine in your application also.
most all the Corvette Vendors have brake parts, kits and pads like VBP (Vette Brakes and Products) or muskegonbrake.com.
I got a kit with calipers, hoses, fluid, MC and pads. That was 20k miles ago, but when I needed rotors I swithed to Hawk ceramic style pads. They stop the car and make no noise doing it.
I replaced all 4 calipers, pads and lines with the VBP kit (with SS O-rings) for my '79 L82 last year. You can get the calipers powder-coated if you'd like. All is working very well.
I ended up replacing the new pads with Wagner Thermo-Quiet pads because I got tired of brake squeal. They are super quiet now and stop well.
