Default 1972 LT1 Engine ID

In 1972 there were two block ID's identifying the LT1 engine block. Actually three if you count the ZR1 package. Is is true that the CRT block came with the A.I.R. system and the CKY block did not. I think that this had something to do with CA emissions.

Looking at a 1972 LT1 with no A.I.R. and trying to figure out if it is missing or wasn't there in the first place.

One last thing, was the vacuum headlight and wiper door system still used in 72?

All LT-1s came with AIR, no exceptions. The vacuum system was used on headlights up to '82, the wiper door was eliminated completely in '73.

The web site likned below does list 2 LT-1 codes. 1 with and and 1 w/o AIR

I was not aware of this and Mike Ward states NO

73 was the 1st year to not use vacuume wiper door.

68 thru 72 did use short hood and vacuume to open wiper door.

all LT-1's came with A.I.R.
that web site states the the calfornia cars do have A.I.R.
it also does not state that other LT-1 cars do not, therefor they do!

did I say that right?!

Mentioning K19 is superfluous and incorrect- the AIR system was a basic feature of the engine spec and not an 'option'.
