removing a rear end cover help needed
Anyone have a suggestion on a safe way to remove a differential cover if the prior user glued it shut with gasket sealer?
If you have a gasket do you even need gasket sealer?

If you are down to just the rtv holding it on try a small Sharp chisel & a hammer, lightly tap the chisel between the cover & the diff. On my 76 I can usually use the cross member to pull the cover.

Yes its just being held by rtv. I am trying to cautious, dont want to break anything while replacing the cover.
I can slam it with a sledge hammer and a chisel, just wasnt sure how much it would take to break he gask sealer without breaking the cover.

You can remove the differential from the cover but you can not remove the cover without removing the crossmember and spring (etc).
What is the problem with the cover?
