Hot Dang!!!!! This hood gets plenty of attention and comments, all positive. I was having second thoughts about the window but loving on the Vents, but everybody loves it. One lady coworker stopped me in the middle of the street to get a look, and then said it was cool. Now I gotta polish and clean up, maybe switch valve cover styles. The vents are a lot more transparent than expected, so you can see the engine from three holes in the hood. You can't creep in a yellow vette with window and vents in the hood.

I have a couple similar looking master cylinders in a parts box for future installation onto my street rod, but my experience was that they wouldn't fit the Corvette booster. I've got a spare booster out of a (IIRC) '72, and while the bolt holes line up, the pilot hole in the booster is too small for the m/c to engage into. Do you know if that m/c will fit the Corvette booster? I was wondering if some of the C2500 truck applications use a Hydra boost, in which case the m/c would definitely work in BeeJay's application. This m/c seems to be much heavier (percentage wise) than a C5 part, but still much lighter than the cast iron C3 part.
Update, M2903 will not fit into hydroboost. I think I need M2904, which is built for the hydroboost. I'll see if NAPA will exchange for me tomorow. The M2903 is 1.750" external and the hdyroboost sleeve is about 1.6". You can't get a 1.750" sleeve into a 1.6" hole.

Beejay,

You're obviously not using a big enough hammer!

M2904 has a different M/C bore size (1.25" vs 1 1/8".)

Wonder if the M2903 will work with stock booster.

Yes, the hole in my Vacuum booster on the shelf is 1.75"
So, will the 1.25" make a big difference from the 1.125"?

I must say that I do not know. My best guess, as a software engineer, with zero experience in fluid dynamics, is that the brakes would be grabbier. I do appreciate you measuring the booster for me, though.

Simple hydraulics. The bigger bore should reduce the pedal travel in cases where the pads/pistons got kicked back during spirited driving, and pedal effort will be slightly higher. (We'll leave it as an exercise for the student to do the bore area math.)

Bringing it back because your PM box is full, did the vents help with cooling any?

I run an aluminum radiator, electric water pump, oil cooler, and a vented hood. The new 383 engine has not gotten over 195 degrees yet. I blew some oil out of my dipstick once at a very high speed. The smoke came out of the vents very efficiently, almost blinded me, so yea they work. The increased steering response at very high speeds was the biggest surprise, so I guess the vented hood reduces front end lift significantly.
