Default please help with battery drain on 79L82

already pulled all fuses and light still stays on multimeter shows 12.4 volts being drained battery goes down very qucikly less than an hour
new battery and new alternator already tried unhooking interior bulbs which are on a timer key is off and no load is being used. I know its a short or ground problem or bad switch or relay. the radio security system power antenna and wiper curcuits should have been taken out of the equation when fuses were pulled. any thoughts would be appreciated.
also problem with overheating at idle or heavy accelearation if you keep
vette moving cools back down would you drill a hole in the thermostat or replace water pump first?

You need to be looking for AMPS not volts.
Describe how you have your meter hooked up.

As mentioned, you're needing an amp meter test, but needs hooking in between a battery terminal and cable. There are dc clamp on types, but not cheap. As for your cooling system problem, what condition's the radiator in.

thanks for the help scotty kilmer on youtube helped me with this after pulling more wiring harnesses under the hood it turned out to be the windshield wiper motor.
After flushing and filling the radiator the vette isnt overheating right now although after squeezing top radiator hose i think the water pump is getting weak.

Harbor Freight sells an amp meter for around $15.00

It is designed for the newer style fuses but a couple of jumper wires and it will work on most anything.

http://www.harborfreight.com/30-amp-...ter-67724.html

I also have a drain on my battery and just trying to find the time to do the work.

Hook this up between the battery and the battery cable.
Remove fuses one at a time until the drain stops.
That is the circuit that is draining your battery.

Start off with the windshield wiper circuit.
