Help!!!! I am in the process of rebuilding / modifying my Q-Jet in my 76 corvette. I found a piece during the rebuild that I can't find a reference for in my book or in the diagram that I got with the carb kit. Anyone know what this is? It is tiny, difficult to get a good pic. It is actually laying on a book, if that gives you an idea of how small. I think it might be part of the APT.

I do electroincs, and looks like a transistor to me too. Maybe a kid thought dropping it into the vent tube would help. Many mid 70's Q-Jets(mostly Pontiacs) had adjustable APT's, but don't recall any looking like that.

Thanks everyone for the input and I agree it does look a lot like a transistor. I don't think it is though. It is brass, and is about the size of a very small air bleed. There is a hole through the middle and then brass wire that looks like it is wrapped in a loose spiral pattern. Really weird. I've got a message in to Cliff Ruggles to check. I'll let you know if it is anything for the carb.

The only possible thing that I can think of is the California version of the computer controlled variety, but I don't think that was used in `76. That carb. had an electronic power valve.

Numbers match on the carb. This is strange, maybe it is something that fell in.
