There's a ground connector on my 71 on top of the heater box that I can not figure out where it needs to go. It has factory AC and alarm which I think that might be confusing the issue. Bubba also did some things here and that's the cause of the mix up.

First, I know this connector for the hood alarm switch ground needs to be moved up to the wiper motor and sits in between the ground connector. Bubba moved it here.

Here's the confusion on my part. If I move that, it leaves a connector behind. This is the one that I can't figure out where it would connect to. It feeds into the wire bundle for the blower motor. Then one with purple, blue, and green wires.

Where would this connect?

Here is a current diagram, not including the alarm ground. Is there some duplication because of the AC wires? There's an unconnected orange connector which looks like a blower motor connector.

Some other pics of the area in question.

It looks to me like someone changed out the ground connector to the fan motor, mine has 2 black wires going in it. I don't see any black/green wires anywhere in that area in my car. So they just made a connection point instead of butt splicing to the black wire in the purple/green/blue/black harness.

Now, the reason they had the wiper motor ground going to that mess is unclear, unless one of those ground wires is broken somewhere.. it looks a little suspect in your second pic about where you have the left yellow arrow. Anyways, it looks to be connected correctly, just too many connection points. I'd probably snip the black/green wire close to the fan ground connector and butt splice the black wire to it, getting rid of those extra connectors.. assuming everything is working right the way it is now.

You know the purple wire goes to some kind of capacitor looking doohicky before the fan?

Yeah, I think they added the wire that's currently grounded to the blower motor. I'm going to remove it. I think the remaining wires will fall into place, once the alarm ground is moved out of the picture.

Yes, the purple wire does go to the capacitor and then to the motor.

Thanks!

for best operation you need to have the blower motor grounded. if the 71 did not have that originally i can see why someone added it.

About the orange wire... my black wire (the one that's with your orange wire) is lone, but there is some wire or wires in it's harness covering. I don't know if it's terminated in there or what. My car does not have an alarm system, it may be slightly different than yours.
