Default Ok electric fan choice question!

I ordered two 12 inch electric fans and after inspecting then and hooking up to power Im just not satisfied with them.
Also I mocked them up on the new radiator and the center where all the blades connect rubs the radiator and just general other stuff I didn't like.
Anyway Im ready to attache the fan and drop in the rad and wire it all up so im starting over in my choice of fans.
I have a aluminum 4 core rad, high volume aluminum water pump.
Engine is mild and also run a 4 speed with 355s.
So do I want 2 12s again or 1 16?
im going to run a relay and wire it all up right.
Oh yes a question can i get the power to the relay off the alternator positive lug?
Don't tell me i have to run a wire all the way back to the battery!!!!
Thank you.

I run my dual Spal 12 inch fans off a junction block I have wired to the starter lug. You can use the lug itself but I did not want to run a bunch of wires to the starter. I just have one heavy gauge off the starter to a junction block.

I like that. Where did you put the junction block and what gauge wire?

I just installed dual Spals and ran the two supplied 12ga fused wires to the starter and now I'm getting quite a few wires at that starter lug.

I would suggest running from the starter lug or a junction block as Gordon has mentioned. By running from there, you have an ample supply of current due to the large gauge wire.

I finished my dual spal install last weekend and also pulled off the starter lug, far easier than running all the way back to the battery.

I went the cheap route and purchased the Flex-O-Lite Dual 12 inch fans. I have them currently on my 82 w/ AC and I used the Pusher fans on a BBC 427, 74 vette without AC. Both were clean perfect fits, almost looked factory

Here was the setup I was running. You can see the bigger red wire taped to the factory wiring. I think it was a 10 gauge wire. It goes to the junction block. There are 3 wires off it. 2 to the 2 fans and the other was the main power for the computer/fuel injection unit. I am in the middle of installing the LS3 motor so this will be rerouted but the same idea will be used. The junction block ccame with the fuel injection system and I have looked for it everywhere and cannot find one just like it.
