Those spiral baffle inserts are really nice, but pricey.
$300 for a muffler? Yikes.

Yep, that's why I made my 2.5" glasspacks. I'm sure they flow plenty for my 450hp 383 and only cost about $40 for the pair.

I'm another glasspack user, 2.25" Dynomax Magnums. I bought the baffles and tried them out. Couldn't notice a performance difference.
Everyone who heard them both preferred the sound of the glasspacks.
Sold the baffles at a substansial loss.
Not a condemnation, just a personal experience....

Hi

OK, this morning, I unpacked the gift from Neil ( Nomad78SA ).
Wow, like new, nearly too nice for the old pipes.
Drivers side is back together, the other side will be done tomorrow morning.
This reverse flow mufflers look very restrictive beside the glasspacks.
Will see what the car says.
The pics show the new reverse flows beside my old glasspack. The glasspacks are a lot shorter, why ?
I might make a long set of glasspacks up as well, similar to the size of the reverse flows.
The pipe looks dull from the chrome polish still being on it ( Neverdull )
Thanks, Neil.

Hi Neil

Thought, I could go to the test today, Tuesday, but after Monday being a legal holliday, Tuesday still was 1/2 legal holliday and the control station was closed. :mad
So , Tomorrow, Wednesday is the day. :nopity
This is now a different car, I can't hear it anymore. Man, this will fall far below the 83 DB rate. :cry
My wife likes the sound. She doesn't like the loud pipes due to the atraction to other people during driving.
Will let you know what they measure.
Did you get the money order already? I hope, this hollidays don't delay it too much. :mad
Thanks Gunther

Hey Gunther,
Came home today thinking about you and wondering how your test went. I see you did not get to go..To bad..I know what you mean on the sound reduction, but they served me well getting the motor broke in. I could hear everything pretty good. The JCL baffles I have sound pretty good too and not really loud by any means. Someone told me they thought my car would sound louder than it did with my sidepipes...I still have not received your letter here. Perhaps in the next few days it will arrive. I will let you know when it does. I took my rolling frame out to a vette gathering this weekend and had a blast..All the guys here hope your test goes well also..Enjoy and see you later on..

Hi Neil

Sorry about the money order not having arrived yet. Will see my bank
tomorrow to follow up on it. It should not take more than a week.
I passed the noise test this morning. They measured 76 DB about 30 feed back of the car at 4000 RPM. 82 are max, so well within.
The sound is so low that I for the first time can heare the gearbox and some other unknown noises.
Hiway driving is also very different now. Difficult to say if the car lost horsepower.
Thanks so much, Neil ( and your wife )
Will let you know what my bank says about your money.

I am glad it all worked out for you...After you tell your wife you need to spend some more money to fix all the other noises, she may like your other pipes again and tell you to put them in.
Thanks for following up on that..I'll let you know when it hits here..
Vette on and enjoy..now to get back to mine, got a lot of stuff to do to get it together again
