Hi all, i have a 71 350 4sp all stock with a qjet. When I jump on it it bogs, I can pedal thru it but is driving me crazy.Any hints on what it might be.
Thanks for all of your knowledge
Two things off the bat. First verify your secondary pulloff vacuum can and linkage are present and functioning. And/or the the tension on the secondary air flap spring could be too lose.
Has it always been like this since you owned the car?
If you didn't buy the car new, there is a chance the previous owner may have removed it in order to "improve" the air flow. It happened to me and replacing it fixed it.

yes it has been like this always, the spring is tight the secondaries do open.
I still think the Secondary wind-up spring is the culprit. I had the same issue.. bogging on hard acceleration.. The spring tension needs to be precise. Used Lars' tuning paper to properly tension the spring and wouldnt you know it... no more bogs.
Just thinking, what we know is you have hesitation at wot. The spring and pulloff issue would cause a too rich condition and a weak or faulty accelerator pump would cause too lean condition.
When you stomp it, what does it sound like? Is it a stumble or a throaty bog? Is it hard to start too?
If its the throaty deep sound, my guess is something is throwing the secondary air flaps open too much and or too soon.
To all on the vaccum i'll have to look but I think it's manifold vaccum and when I stomp on it it it's a sumble. I haven't been able to look at it since I'm trying to rebuild after the flood from the hurricane.
