327 Will Not Start ??
It's in my 68.
Battery tests ok (11.7volts), tried another battery (12.2volts) and also no go.
Before I start fighting with the starter motor on the shed floor (no pit & no hoist) I thought I would look at some gear reduction starters incase my factory Chevy starter is stuffed.
Then it got me thinking.. Do these cars have a relay somewhere in the system ?
I was looking at the CVR starter motor web site and it shows a Chevy starter for use with factory points with relay....
I have noticed the last few drives that it sounded harder to start. A bit slow on the starter.
Battery terminals are nice and tight.
Do you think it's time for starter to come out or should i check something else first ??
Cheers.
That battery has a dry cell or the alt is not working.
I wouldn't run an exotic starter, just run to Autozone and get a new starter and battery and then take your alt with you for a test.
Cleaned a couple of terminals.
And... Vroom with a capital 'V'.
I think trying 2 different battries may have thrown me towards the starter.
Both battries were both a bit old.
New battery can stay, it's all good.
Nice sunny day today, Tops are coming off and a drive to the beach for lunch.
Cheers.
