I recently bought a 1981 Vette and the previous owner routed the plug wires from the distributer down over (and touching) the exhaust manifold.
I purchased new wires and they are longer and it appears in order to properly route the plug wires so that they are not resting on the exhaust manifold, they pass underneath the exhaust manifold. I am not sure how they are routed.
Does a proper routing diagram exist for these plug wires?
The assembly instruction manual for your model year has a schematic that illustrates plug wire routing with correct brackets, grommets, etc. The pictures above are good but there were subtle changes over the years.
