Hi 86,
I can imagine how you felt!!!
I think the only real cure is to have the grill re-plated.
Are there chrome plating shops in Kuwait?
Regards,
Alan

Just be glad it only scuffed the chrome and the paint. If the part was broken, it would be about $600 to replace it. A good chrome shop should be able to clean that up.

I have a '71 with similar issues. How much would you guess it would cost to re-chrome both left & right grills?

Don't you then have to paint, or do something, to the re-chromed egg crate portion of the grill?

Thanks

Hi drs,
A few years ago I priced having my grills re-plated and the cost was $250 each.
I think who ever does the plating needs to see the grill before giving a price so they see what they're getting in to.
The painted areas of the grill do need to be re-done after the plating. There are various paints available that are quite close to what's on the original grills. The paint and painting issues have been discussed quite a bit in the last few years so if you do a search you'll see what people are doing about paint.
Regards,
Alan

No. Moldings on the 68s and 69s are separate pieces. On the 70-72 cars, they are part of the grille.

Hi gq,
I responded to your pm a couple of minutes ago.
I don't think you could successfully combine the 68-69 and 70-72 parts.
I think you'd ruin both.

Alan
