Does anybody know whether or not patch panels are made to replace the floor. My 76's floor has rusted through in several areas. It would be nice to be able to weld in new panels rather than try and patch it up. Any suggestions?
I have not found fiberglass or steel panels yet but have not checked out corvette central (thanks for the info), I guess I need to dig up there catalog, went through several others and have not found them yet. I would think that fiberglass would need to be braced around the seats but not sure how it works, I think earlier (than 76) had fiberglass floors but not sure?
May '02 issue of Corvette Fever had in the Product Preview section a vendor that is selling replacement floor pans for 76-82 vette's. Parts are USA made, di-stamped steel. Company is Auto Body Specialties, of Middlefield CT, (888) 277-1960.
Corvette Central has them on their web site as do several other vendors. They seem to be popping up everywhere recently. I also have a rusty floor problem and looked into them, but Bubba says $240. per side plus shipping and installation is way too much for me to handle. I'm patching in some sheet metal in the real bad spots and am going to try POR-15's floor pan repair products. Carpet on top and undercoating on the bottom and it will look real nice from 20 feet. :D
The 75 76 and 77 have metal floors I have done both, Welded in steel Panels and also laid in fiberglass. If I ever do that job again it would be fiberglass all the way. Looks good and easy to do in well ventalated area :D
