C5's Dont Wave ....
I know this topic has been around forever... but I have to report in. As many of you know, I just bought an 02 Z06 as a companion to my 72. The 02 arrived in Albuquerque, Friday afternoon May 3rd. This is Monday afternoon, and I have driven it a total of 60 miles. OK OK ... I had to work Saturday & Sunday.... but I am sad to report, that even in the new Z06 ... C5 drivers don't wave to another C5.
I thought at first that they just didn't want to acknowledge an older Vette, that in their mind didn't measure up to their car. But, after seeing & waving to many C5 since Friday in my 02 Z06, and getting no response ... I've come to the conclusion that most, if not all, have no clue of the heritage of the wave.

I also wave at all old cars/trucks.... and even the bikers wave when the 72's top is dropped .... must be the wind in the face thing ????

Both of the C5s in Utah wave at me in my 81, and so the other six Vettes, back when I was in California most of the Corvette owners waved on the streets, but only the older ones waved on the highways.

I too have been snubbed, Saturday I pulled the 78 out and saw several nice Corvettes out both older and newer and would say out of the 8 or 9 not one wave back. Drivers looked at me like I was crazy. I will continue the wave.

In my C5 - I try to wave at any & all vettes regardless of vintage.
....However, in response to most C5 owners - for many, this is their 1st vette - so let's go easy on 'em - but the 2nd time :smash: 'em !!! :lol:
Maybe the C5's you're waving at are 'status' people who don't care about vettes other than they paid lots of $$$ for their ride ? :p:

When I first bought my 73, people would wave at me. Had no clue why. But I would wave back, and I wave to vettes now all the time regardless of my ride. Just cause. I also wave at cops, I think they have a REALLY hard job and nobody appreciates them. Since I am a young guy, how did the wave start?

Lately I'm having very good luck with the C5ers, and most of them wave or wave back. And I mean real wave, not the "cool" four fingers up while holding the steering wheel... nor the middle finger salute... :jester

Sometimes it just depends on who you run across. I've had days when nobody waved and others where everyone did, it's really weird. C5 drivers aren't much different from the others I've noticed, when it comes to waving back.

I haven't had a single c5'er wave back in 2 weeks. It's getting annoying, I feel like an idiot.
Plus, most of the c5's around here have their tinted windows up and I can't even see them anyways.

I recieve waves from most vette`s in the area I live, but sometimes it`s hard to tell if the C5`s are waving or not because the windows are tinted so dark.
But it doesn`t matter I`ll keep waving anyway. :seeya

Many C5 owners are not enthusiasts or "car nuts". They view Corvettes as just a "cool car". They may be ignorant about the "wave". They would own a Boxster or a BMW as well as a C5.
I like to use quotations...."a lot".
