Default Custom Air Intake

Anyone used or installed a Walter Prosper air intake? www.walterprosper.com I want to put one on my modified 68. I have the bb L88 hood. The engine is a moded sbc with Edlebrock intake and PP III efi. I already use a lowered air cleaner base with no clearance issues. I also use a HEI tack drive dist. Anyone tried one?

That sucks in HOT air and will take away 20rwhp or more. Hot air kills engine performance and the EFI system will start taking out more & more timing as the intake temps go up. The GM LS engines start take out some timing after intake air temps reach 87* and an Edelbrock EFI system I had took out a ton of timing after 105*.

Why not install the full L88 intake setup?

I'm with "Kaos", as always best grabbing intake air in front of the rad any way you can. I normally modify the stock intake, pulling the snout and cut in a couple flex hose tap collars. Finding fresh air can be problematic, sometimes involving inner fender cutting, but worth the trouble. All modern cars have been doing this for years. Much quieter, and no one will hear you coming.

Was certainly my first thought. I wonder if it would help the car get up to warp speed?

Well thanks for the candid input. I was looking to add some bling to the motor. I dont race the car and it sees moderate driving. I do get in it from time to time but not racing. I have the cowl induction in the L88 hood right now. I use a 3 inch K&N type filter element with a chrome top with an early 350/370 HP GM sticker on it. The cowl works fine. Like I said I was looking at improving the appearance but still being able to get the hood closed. I know I would have to remove the cowl to make the air intake assy fit. Not something I treasure but just wanted to see if anyone has used this set-up. Expensive, yes thats whay I am asking. I understand about the sucking hot air issue. Was thinking about how to use the system and then maybe using tubing to route cool air into it, not have it suck hot header air or heated air from the radiator.

I also saw another custom hood, an L88 with a small section in the center cut out and some sort of clear plexiglas or something put in it's place. Sort of like how you view the new supercharged ZR1. Looked awesome. Sorry I can't find he picture again. I think it was in the 2011 SEMA show at Las Vagas.

Well I'm going to abandon the Walter air intake for now. Been also looking at some Spectre set ups. Oh did I mention, I have a extra stock hood to play around with if need be.

Thanks for your input. Sometimes idea's are just that, an idea.
