I just got a new rear compartment set to replace. The holes for the locks aren't cut in the carpet. Any suggestions as to best way to cut them without wrecking the carpet around the holes?
Hi d,
I trace the hole's position on the back side of the carpet using the door as a guide..
I then use an xacto knife with a number 11 blade. This is the one with a very sharp point. I use a sawing motion to cut just the backing, from the rear side. I then carefully cut the loops that need to be cut from the front side of the carpet.
Regards,
Alan
Hi Mel.... you were typing the same time I was! At least we agree on how to do it.

Thanks to you both. I was thinking an xacto knife - I'll try to get one at the hobby shop. The carpet is already attached to the door, so I can't get under the carpet, and the hole for the latch is smaller than the top part, but I can start there. I have the old compartment so I may be able to use it as a template.
