Breaking in a muffler was for the old cherry bomb glass packs when they burnt all the fiberglass out of them and they really got loud!!!!
When you break in a Flowmaster they get more quite, so keep trying, drive and drive and drive and keep trying!

Just out of curiosity, what was on prior to your new 40 series?
* If you want a rumble that says your driving something with power and are not ashamed of your car then run Flowmasters.
*If you want your car to sound like an ambulance hauling a 92 year old woman with a chicken bone stuck in her throat to the hospital go with magnaslows!
(I just fell out of the chair on that one)!!!!

LOL!! I like the Magnaflows, and that still made me laugh!!!!
My super 44's definitely changed tone after putting some miles on them. For the better I might add. When I first put them on I did not like the sound very much. Now they sound deep with good tone. By the way, forget all the horsepower muffler wars. Anybody who knows Flowmasters knows their best flowing mufflers are center in center out.
You want it to sound like it has power then mod the motor
More air in/out and the sound will take care of itself.
Otherwise you just have a louder sounding pooch.
Exh I have on my 67 now was fairly quiet with the old motor a 430hp 350.
Last one was approx 550chp same system, noise was almost unmanageble at any rpm. Food for thought.
Yes, I am a professional souped-up-engine-detector. I have a Master's Degree in Auditory Engine Analysis. I can determine an engines horsepower and torque, and what rpm the peak is at, within plus or minus 5%. Unless the car has Slowmaster mufflers, then I don't even have to use my skillz, I just know it's a flat-out dog!!!! LOL!!!!! Tim H, you know I'm just messin' with ya!!!
My real answer is that you don't have to be a meteorologist to know if it's raining out or not. You know what I mean, I'm sure you can tell the difference between a hotrod and a car with a loud muffler.
