Default ZZ4 Engine

I have a zz4 engine that I am going to put in a 72. I have the hooker headers with side pipes. Will these headers fit my zz4 heads?

The ZZ4 heads have a D exhaust port, I matched that up with my hookers when I ordered them. Does your existing hedders have a D post flange?
Suggestion: Call Hooker and ask, they should be able to tell u PDQ.

Sure they will they just have to cover the ports and they are small on those heads. Doesnt have to match just cover thats all.

I have ZZ4 heads on my 75 with Summit's 1 5/8 headers.

The "D" shaped ports are a lot smaller than the header flange.

So no problems man.

Ralph

One more thing I'm very happy with the ZZ4 heads.
I'm putting out close to 335hp with a stock block and Lunati's 102 cam.
with a stock auto tranny and converter.
Dual exhaust is a must. Some say it's worth 50hp.

I just purchased a ZZ4 engine to put into my '73 and would like to go the sidepipe route. Did your hooker sidepipe headers fit with the ZZ4 angled plug heads or did you go back to rear exhaust? I phoned Hooker today and they said the headers wouldn't fit. Thanks

Not sure the ports, but on my ZZ4 I was using Hooker Supercomps. The none sidepipe ones and they worked fine. The header tube was bigger than the port and the angle plugs did not have any issues.
