1973 Coupe Jack Location
Help!! I am a little confused. I just recently accuired a 73 coupe. The jack and lug wrench came seperate in a box and appeared to have spend the last 30 years in the rain. All rusted. After much soaking in solvent, lots of Navel Jelly and about 3 cans of PB Blaster, 2 wore out wire brush wheels, and a can of black paint, I am back in business. I know the jack mounts in the compartment behind the pass seat. When I open the compartment there is a liner in place. This is where I am confused. The liner is covering the jack mounting tabs that are attached. I have a new retaining spring. Do I have the wrong liner or what??? Any help is greatly appriciated!!

Yes, you lift out the liner and fasten the jack under the spring which is goes between two hooks rivited to the actual bottom of the compartment.
Took a picture for you. The stock lug nut wrench can be difficult since it applies torque unevenly, so I store and use a collapsable "X" type lug nut wrench.

Post two is a great pic of how it all goes together. Just a tip, if you don't mind, it is best to have it there, just for show. I would not recommend using them, unless it is an absolute emergency, just my opinion.

Hi B,
The original lug wrench has a rubber donut on the lug end and is placed on the compartment floor under the jack's base. The spring and hook is supposed to keep it all from rattling.
If you have the original dated jack that's a very nice find and was worth the effort to clean it up.
Regards,
Alan
