Default Help price '68 Conv.

Hey,

Hopefully someone can help me with this. I am a complete newbie so don't know where to look etc.

I have a 1968 Convertible. 327 auto. Bought new by my grandmother in 1968. Origional engine/trans etc. The odometer broke in 1977 at 70,000 and was driven by my mother from 77-81 as her daily driver (although in a small town). It has been sitting a long time. Periodically my dad and I would go through spurts of getting things fixed. You know....fix one thing....another brakes.

As of right now. It's been sitting about 2 yrs since we've done anything to it. It starts with a little help (or did then), and needs bearing work in back I think because it makes a pretty awful noise from the rear wheel. :)

At any rate, I am wondering what it would be worth. And more importantly I was wondering if there is some person/dealership I could take it to in the Dallas/Fort Worth TX area that could look it over since that would be even better! :) So is there anyone from that area on here that has some idea of where to go?

I found the Fort Worth Corvette club on the web, but their meeting isn't until the end of the month and I'm impatient! haha!

Any help would be appreciated greatly! THANKS!!!!

The short answer is it's worth what someone will pay for it. It's pretty much in the "fixer upper" catagory from your description, so you'd need to find the right buyer to get much of a price. If you need to sell it quick, you probably won't get much more than 5 or $6K. If you're patient, list it on some of the car selling sites like vettefinders.com or http://www.cars-on-line.com, I'll bet you could get close to $9K.

Shame to sell granny's car, though! :D

Thanks for all the replies. Yes it is/would be a shame to sell Grandma's car. I have been debating whether or not to do it for awhile... I'm still not sure I want to. But at any rate want someone qualified/more experienced than me (not saying much :) ) to look at it and help me decide how much it's worth, or conversely how much I would have to put into it. Anyway, I'm still up on the fence about what to do! :)

Verskel, I will definately take you up on the offer to look at it. It looks exactly like yours (lemans blue/black top) from a distance :) hehe... Anyway, I live in Ft. Worth. The car is currently in Abilene in storage, but will be moving up here shortly I believe due to the storage space (dad's old store property) being given up.

Thanks again for all the replies. We'll see..... ;)
