Ok I give up. First time connecting battery tender. can't figure out how to remove batery cables. 1979 corvette. do I remove battery from car? I've done that but unscrewed terminals from battery to do it. do cables just peel off terminals. last resort to look like an idiot on the forum.
Connect the tender's cables to their respective positive/negative battery position BEFORE plugging the tender into an electrical outlet. There's no need to remove the battery from the car.
Lol. u need to remove the cables before hooking up the tender to be safe.
If u cannt figure out how to take off cables, u probably shouldn't be doing this without help. Do u have a neighbor that can help u? Friend maybe?

You have a side terminal battery, and you don't have to disconnect it for a battery tender
First who is OP?
I just connect clamps to battery and plug into wall, then just walk away.
or should i just plug in once a month for a day? neg "-" first then pos "+".
sorry to be a pain, someone has to ask the dumb questions.
Is there no power to the recepticle or is the heating element burned out? You really need to identify that problem to be able to answer your question. I think I would just put the clips on the battery if I were you.
The proper procedure is to attach the (+) positive alligator clip first. Then attach the (-) negative or ground clip but not to the battery, to another metal ground bolt some distance away from the battery. Doing this lessens the chances of a spark igniting the hydrogen gas given off by a charging storage battery. Reverse this procedure when disconnecting the charger...negative (black) first, then positive (red).
If I were you, and as suggested above, I would have a friend who is competent in such an area, show you how to do the hook up. If when doing the hook up a spark is generated, it can cause an explosion of the battery and obviously do physical harm to you and the car.
