Is that Corvette Central 2.5" Magnaflow setup crush bent or mandrel bent? I've never seen a picture of it. If it's mandrel bent then that is a smoking deal.

I like my Magnaflows even better after hearing my neighbors Flowmasters. The Flowmasters sound pretty good at idle and have a nice tinny sound. When he revs it up a bit they are high pitched and are hard on the ears. I think that would get old after awhile.

My car has the Corvette Central 2.5" Magnaflow system with Rams Horn exhaust manifolds from Brzezinski Racing. I think it has a nice mellow low powerful sound. When you give it some gas they get louder, but not too loud.

Good Luck on your choice, and Merry Christmas!

I don't think they are what you would call mandrel bent. The diameter changes somewhat at the curves. And the pipes are slightly flattened under the differential. For ground clearence, I suppose.. But not too bad. I've seen worse.

Thanks for the info.. I am pretty sure that I'll be ordering a set of them this week.

I got the Corvette central exhaust system about 3 1/2 years ago, I'm pretty happy with it so far. Ceramic coated block-huggers, aluminized 2 1/2" exhaust, MagnaFlow mufflers. Not too shabby for around 600 bucks and some change.

It's tough to get a sound appreciation unless it's live. I will say that I used the Magnaflow complete true duals on my 82 from CCentral and I am very pleased. Its throaty when you are at idle and when you get into it, but no drone at highway speeds or tooling about. It's like when there is a constant speed, you don't even know that they are there.

I have Flowmasters and my car sounds great.
Some cars just don't have what it takes to run Flowmasters and make them sound good. Word.

You should have very little trouble in today's market finding such a tank, made in the '60s or '70s, for well under a million dollars.

Now, if it's a dragstrip tank your lookin' for, I can't really help you out there, not my area of expertise.........

Follow this link and you can hear a 2.5" stock exhaust system with magnaflow mufflers on a 70th LT-1. From corvette central. I´m happy with them.

Bye

Hope I'm not hijacking this thread, has anyone tried CCs C3 Off Road/N11 Mufflers.

http://www.corvettecentralexhaust.co...k_off_road.php

These louder than Magnaflows, somewhere in between Flowmasters and Magnaflows? They sure sound good on some of the sound clips I've heard. I realize cam and compression will affect sound. Just curious how these compare to MFs or FMs.

LOL!! Tim, you crack me up!!

Maybe it's from too many years firing rifles and machine guns on the range, but I really don't think Flowmasters are any louder than Magnaflows. They just sound different. Flowmasters are more raspy, tinny, crisp. Magnaflows are a little more subtle, mellow, smooth. Let's stop all this a-fussin' and a-fuedin', and try to get along with each other. In the name of togetherness, I am going to remove one of my Magnaflows, and install a Flowmaster. Anybody out there have Flowmasters, and want to swap one for a Magnaflow? In the spirit of togetherness? Maybe it'll catch on, and you can say "I was one of the first ones to run one of each!!"

The car will go down the road sideways because the Flowmaster side is more powerful so I discourage your test and encourage and full frame off resto for 10 years and $100000 instead.

I ordered the Corvette Central 2.5" kit with the magnaflows.. I can't wait to install them. I figure the time I wait for them to arrive will equal the amount of time it would take your average pair of flowmaster 40 series to rot out. It's awesome the Magnaflow mufflers come in stainless!

For the record.. in a mildly younger life... we ran flow masters and found that they would create 16+ psi of backpressure on average with a true dual 2.5" no cat setup. That, in my opinion, is not something I'd like to run and I hope the Magnaflows do better.

I'm sure you'll be happy with the Magnaflows. Many years ago I bought a Flowmaster system for the Z28 in my avatar to replace the glasspacks I was running. It choked my motor from midrange on up and as a result I had a very noticeable drop in power. Flowmaster told me I needed to tune my carb/ignition to match the increased flow with their system- that turned out not to be the case. They later admitted that system didn't flow well and they had to revise it. By then I had put on the Dynomax Ultraflos that I still run on the car- all my performance was restored and it sounded better too. The Ultraflos and Magnaflows are very similar in design, so they both have a sweet sound without being overly loud. Enjoy!

Here is some info I found a while back. I used this to make a muffler choice and bought the magna flows. I have a 2 1/2" system with long tube headers and a X pipe. This is wake the dead at WOT and the neighbors love it.

The Hooker Maxflow made the best power while still being very quiet at idle/2000rpm, but nice and loud at WOT. The Bassani Real Street also made nice power without being too loud. Anybody have any feedback on these mufflers?
