This is the second time you've asked this question- I think the suggestion was to figure why you're breaking so many spindles when nobody else is.
I honestly dont know. Breaks on take offs and I was mistaken when I said got it from mid america on the last post I got it from fullthrottlecorvette. I do dog it sometimes but it shouldnt be breaking like this. ( wasnt gassing on it when it broke)
What the heck, I'll play. Why did you replace the no-problem originals?
Heard a loud screeching sound figured the bearing were bad and they were but it ended up being the e brake.anyways, I took it to the shop to get the spindle removed and they mushroomed out the spindle where the nut goes. Went ahead bought a new spindle and rotor for both sides thats when they started breaking.
Sales only USA made parts no cheap China parts plus he machines the spindles so your rotor run-out will be within spec. I rebuilt my trailing arms with Tom's spindles and sent my supports to Vansteel to be reloaded and have been very happy with the results.
I see more then one on that thread
ecklers
toms
internation axle
along with the ones ive seen
vansteel
mid america
fullthrottle
zip corvette/lonestar
I honestly don't think the problems in the car I think its with the spindle but who knows I can be wrong. I just don't want to keep replacing spindles that's all. I'll be honest I am persistent and stubborn if everyone just picked one spindle because it dominated the others I wouldn't keep trying to find out which one to go with.
Tom's has a great reputation. He is used by the best.
I have to say though that with the amount of power you are putting to the rear wheels and with the tires you are using I think you have another problem that is causing your spindles to break in that fashion.
Good Luck!
If you or anyone else is interested I have one brand new in the box, genuine GM rear spindle, not a offshore made GM restoration part but an NOS original. send a PM if your interested in owning it.
I've built cars that have ran in mid 11 seconds in the quarter mile all on stock suspension. I've had many other mid years and c3 cars and in my lifetime and I've only managed to brake one spindle.
I don't think the issue is what spindle as much as what is the cause... As others in this thread have indicated.
What are you running.. engine wise? What rear end and are you drag racing the car?
The car that I broke the spindle in was a stroker car with a 4.11 and some cheater slicks. Dumping the clutch, hooking up and enough horse power and it broke.
Also.. if this is the second spindle to break... do you know what the clearance was the installation shop used when it was set up? The set up might be the issue...
Right now I am not running anything great at all pretty much stock with a couple mods here and there! (cam, intake, carb but I'm buying heads and gears )
I was thinking about just sending the assemble out for a rebuild instead of hassling around locally, would eliminate if something was wrong. Rebuild seem fair but also offset trailing arm has caught my eye, besides sway bar would offset t arms effect anything else? I'm not running the biggest tires 255/60/15
But I did buy a full set of rims w/tires 265/50/15 with straight spinners for $100 at an auction but I liked the look of offset anyone have problems or they just hook up and go?

If you have already had the arms out of the car then you can do a bearing only set up and install. Everything is taken apart, inspected, check, new bearings installed, and anything else you need....
You would have to send in the arm.. and the cost is 285.00 labor.. plus parts... for more info, give sales a call at 800-588-3883.
