Yeah, figure out where the coolant is leaking from and fix it. It's not a good idea to drive around leaking coolant all over the place. Make sure your coolant level is topped up, and fire it up and let it come up to operating temperature. Now start looking around for a coolant leak. You will be able to identify a coolant leak by the fact that coolant is leaking out. That's the main thing to look for, coolant leaking out. Once you have found where the coolant is leaking out, you will have found your coolant leak. Once you have found your coolant leak (that's the place where coolant is leaking from) you will need to fix it, I.E. stop the coolant from leaking out. The fix will depend on where and for what reason the coolant is leaking, so once you figure out where it's leaking from, let us know and someone will advise you from there.
You may not have a leak. You may have an overheating issue, in which case, looking for a coolant leak will be futile.

Since you haven't filled out your profile, we have no idea where you live. But, if it is in a 'mild winter' area, one alternative is to just block off the hoses to the heater core and forget it.
If you really do need the heat in the winter, this will not be a "fun job" this time of year...
