Just installed a new fuel tank on my '80 chassis. I plumbed in the fuel to pump and return lines. However, I'm missing the "Tee" fitting that connects the vapor return line to the tank and then to the sending unit flange. I don't have the original gas tank. And " no joy" finding an aftermarket fitting. Anyone been down this path before.
I'll try the local Corvette shop tomorrow, but they never seem to have the old surplus parts I need so I'm looking for a Plan "A".
Are you talking about the T on the driver side of the tank?
If you have the reproduction tank without the plastic liner that T serves no purpose. I believe the "bung" for it is even blocked off.
Simply vents between the liner on original tanks.
Otherwise, I MAY have a T still on an old tank I removed, just gotta dig it out!
Thanks for your replies and help. Late today I got a lead on a used "T" fitting from an old '80 tank. It's the threaded fitting (fits into a 1/2" N.P.T. hole) with the 1/8" O.D. barb fittings on either end. I'm going to check it out tomorrow morning, but in talking with the guy on the phone... he has my fitting.
Please read post #3. I installed a new tank on mine and this was indeed the case with my tank. No tee was needed, used rubber fuel line from metal vapor return line all the way to the sending unit. The hole was plugged but still had the threads for the tee.
Thanks again for the replies guys. Yeah, I caught that comment about the liner vent. Makes sense because I was wondering why my replacement tank was set-up to vent from two holes. I was going to install a 1/2" plug in the tank and run hose from the vapor line directly to the vent off of the sending unit as suggested, but I was able to get my hands on the elusive brass "Tee" fitting this morning at no cost. Anyways, I had the "Tee", but not the plug so I simply put the "Tee" in.

My back end looks pretty good now. Next up is the rack and pinion kit for the front, then wheels and tires.
