1980 bad running

1980 bad running

hi all we have a 1980 that when cold, under plenty of gas hessitates and pops back through the carb, when it warns up it is fine, any ideas what is wrong

Carbs aren't fuel injection but try adjusting the choke. Pass side of the carb , round black circle with 3 screws loosen and turn

i would say that it needs a good old fashioned tune up. Do you have a mechanic? i have a tuner here that i take the carb issues to. i can bolt on and hammer a lot of things. When it comes to the tuning part i have someone do that for me. I just don't have a big enough hammer to make it run well...

Have you checked your timing? Check it warm vs cold.

not checked the timing but will do after and before a tune up thanks

yeah, just thinking maybe you need to back off some timing, seems like when the weather changes the engine all of the sudden wants something different...
