I started to replace the carb on my 72 350/200hp. I loosened the gas line and put a rag under it. Even tried letting it drip into a snapple bottle and it filled it 3/4's before I just reconnected the gas line. It's like it won't stop. Let me ask this... how much gas should come out of that metal gas line before it stops or, will it just keep flowing?
Can't get to the carb replacement with gas leaking all over the place.
Well, it shouldn't be flowing out of the fuel line, as there the level of fuel in the rear tank should be lower than the exit point of the fuel line. The fuel bowl in the Q-Jet might have about a cup (8 oz.) of fuel in it; and if the needle valve isn't completely closing off, that fuel will leak out the carb. Hopefully you don't have an electric fuel pump that is always turned ON.
