I have another question. This time it is about the intake manifold.
I have the gaskets taped to the heads and with the intake setting loose on the gaskets I have a gap of .07" front and back between the intake and block.
I have read not to use a gasket here, just silicone. Will the silicone be able to seal that gap you think?
I used this last time. It sets up alot firmer than regular RTV. There is about an 1/8in. gap even after you torque the intake down. This fills that gap and is holding up well on mine after 200mi.. mike...

That is not just the stuff to use for end-sealing your intake, it is by far the best commercially-available gasket sealer you can buy. It sticks like crazy to almost any clean surface, is completely impervious to water, oil, gasoline, and heat, and dries firm and hard enough to stay put but is flexible enough to fill large gaps like intake ends.
Did you "port-match" the gaskets to the heads and manifold? If so, I have a little trick I use to get the best alignment of the ports (though some may disagree with it). If you didn't I won't get into it here.
Is that you in your avatar? You're an itty-bitty little gal! That's cool, at least you won't bump your head driving over speedbumps, like I do!! You really doing all this mechanical stuff yourself? That is awesome!!

That is the other half. She talked me into building a respectible engine for her vette. So with the help of everyone here I have been slowly putting together something she can tear up.
