Ok i've searched and this is probably a stupid question. I'm converting my fuel lines from the pump to carb to AN SS Braided lines. I can't get a straight answer on what fitting i'll need for the fuel pump to convert that to AN. I have everything else figured out but am not quite sure what fitting to order. I have a stock mechanical pump on a 350. Thanks ahead for any help.
you don't have a industrial supply or even a NAPA or O'Reilly's that makes hoses near you???
Ive checked around at all the local shops and they can all order me fittings but don't carry them in stock. I figured that someone on here has done this before and could tell me what fitting I would use on the outlet of the fuel pump.
It's almost certainly an NPT fitting unless it's a high-zoot aftermarket pump, so you'll need an NPT-to-AN fitting and then the appropriate AN hard- or soft-line fitting.
It's not hard to find the right NPT size - just go to your hardware store and get a brass 5/16" and 3/8" NPT fitting to check the size.
For a hard line, the size of the AN fitting is the size of the line / 1/16"...for example, a 3/8" line = 6/16ths = 6 AN. 6 AN is fine for mild carb'd applications...although if you're making all new lines doing 8 AN isn't a bad investment.
More information on the specifics would help with a more specific recommendation.
Once you have the NPT and AN size, just order the fitting from your favorite online vendor
