I have an 80 vette. I was wondering the vac. switch on the firewall with 2 wires. I was wondering if thats for the trans overdrive or something. I'm in the process of removing the majority of the vac switches and hoses. Does anyone kno what will happen if that switch is disconnected.
What do you think if i ran a vac hose from the carb to that? because the original line t's off at the charcoal canister and then back up to one of the fittings that is on the intake coolant passage/thermostat housing. Who knows if that stuff even works after 30yrs anyway. Thanks for your input.

Page 7A-3 of the 1980 Shop Manual shows the fender mounted vacuum switch closing at 7 inches HG and opening at 2.5 inches HG. Not sure how that compares to a vacuum line off your carburetor as their are several ports.
Are you removing the charcoal canister? IMO removing the charcoal canister will also require modification of the gas tank/vapor lines and gas cap as well.
Yes Sir; The vacuum to the transmission switch, runs from the front of the carb. to the switch, then two green wires are at the plug in. one goes to under the dash. There are two from the transmission, Green one goes to the switch, the other green splits going under the dash & up to the switch. I need the plug end for mine if you take yours off. Have a great one. Gene
