Welcome to the Forum!

Block number reads as a 454 ci big block manufactured from 1978-1990, 2 or 4 bolt main. (See link below)

http://www.castingnumbers.info/site/.../Engine_Blocks

Date code of J148 would indicate a block cast October (J) 14th of 1978 or 1988.

First position is a letter month designation: A-Jan, B-Feb, C-Mar, D-Apr, E-May, F-Jun, G-Jul, H-Aug, I-Sep, J-Oct, K-Nov, L-Dec.

Month is followed by a digit or digits representing the date of the month ("1" thru "31").

Date is followed by a single digit representing the year. Given the casting history of the 14015445 block that could be 1978 or 1988.

What kind of transmission? Stamping location varies by type.

Auto?, Turbo Hydramatic 400/350/700R4? , 3-speed?, Muncie 4-speed, Warner 4-speed?

LOL: I'm just trying to get my regular Corvette to run - not ANY help on race engines, sorry.
