Robb- can you clarify- can an s-10 truck blower be used on a 78 factory ac system? I tried to find cfm ratings for chevy blowers but was unsuccesful & eventually pulled the factory ac because the blower just did not deliver enough volume-& yes it was a good low mileage blower- perfectly fine- just not strong enough for the job it was given- & yes the evap. was NOT restricted. If the s10 is swappable that is a big deal. Thank you for mentioning it.

I'll try to get a pic for you if it will help.
Please do!

I'm thinking cutting and glassing the original AC box might work as an AC delete too, right?

ok guys, with all this info and opinions, I have decided I will go ahead and toss the A/C (good or bad), so now, is there any step by step instructions or any "need to know" procedures I should be aware of? Since I have not tackles this before, any help would be appreciated.

Default A/C Removal?

This seems to be a popular exercise-
I am thinking of going the other way and adding factory A/C to my 69' Coupe.
If anyone has a complete and unmolested factory A/C system that would fit my 69 and is looking to sell, please drop me a line.
I would need the entire set-up (evaporator, condenser, compressor, lines, wiring, controls, ducts etc) but I'm not opposed to assembling good parts from various sources so don't hesitate to drop me line with what you have.
It would be a shame just to throw the stuff in the trash if their are people out there looking to buy this stuff.
Thanks!
Elm

Once you get the existing evap and associated covers off the firewall, and have the ac delete in yout hand, you'll see pretty easily how it all fits together.

Couple of hints:

Put the ac delete over a piece of cardboard and trace it out then cut the shape. lay your evap casing on the cardboard as if the cardboard was the firewall and mark through all the holes. Use a hole punch and cut the holes out of the cardboard and then _verify_ they match up with the studs on the firewall. Chances are you will need to "level" the template a bit. Use that to mark your holes on the ac delete. put a couple layers of masking tape on each side and drill slowly through with a sharp bit (not the one you used last year to drill out a cabinet, hitting nails etc as you drilled).

Drill the holes in the ac delete for your studs about 50% bigger than the diameter of the stud. I think I did about 3/8" holes. This provides some "wiggle" room if the holes aren't in the exact right place.

Mount the fan before you install the ac delete on the firewall.
