Hi 70d,
I agree, yes!
In addition to being 2", they need to be for a sb engine, not a bb engine.
The length and shape of the pipe from the front of the muffler to the manifold is different for sb and bb cars.
Regards,
Alan
I've got a small block engine with small block "nos"sidepipes .Everything is 2" Just wondering if the fiberglass insulation will bolt up to my rocker panel holes?
Hi 70d,
On my 71, no.
I could never really figure out why not, since I didn't think the locations of the rocker channel mounting screws changed from 68-69 to 70+.
I ended up drilling new holes in the rocker channel for the insulator mounting screws.
Regards,
Alan
PS: I just remembered... I used the screws sold for mounting the sill plates to mount the insulators. The screws that are sold for the inslators have too big a countersunk head to fit in the insulator's holes. The sill screws are number 8 with a number 10 head.

What size are the individual primary pipes and do the the oem sidepipes come with headers or just run off the stock ram horns ? Like said above there were small and big block oem's and the big block were much more common, at least from what I have seen, just trying to help could be wrong on that one
The pipe in front of the muffler is two inch (is this the primary pipe) That is going to be bolted up to the original factory ramhorn exhaust which is also two inch. Another question I have is ;are the bb pot metal cover numbers the same as the sb pot metal cover numbers?
The covers themselves are the same for a sb or a bb. The only real difference in the sb versus the bb system is the head pipe that runs from the exhaust manifold to the long mufflers under the covers. Otherwise the systems are indentical.
