Default Installing New Bumper Covers '74 Quick Question

I had originally thought about using 1/4-20 stainless nuts and bolts to install new covers front and back...However that ain't gonna happen, at least on the rear....

These install clips I have linked, do they rivet to the cover and then you only have to install the nut from the inside of the car? In other words I am curious what holds these clips to the cover....Thanks again..

When I installed my 73 front bumper the stud just stuck through the holes from the bumper side and the nut then holds everything together. I don't know if this is true for the rear bumper as well.

The rear installs just like the front. The clips are loose until you tighten them up with a washer and nut.

Gotcha, so basically the "square" part just acts as a stop to keep the stud from spinning and not having a need to have a wrench on both sides then....

Thanks again for the help...

It's been awhile since I did mine, but I remember having to open up the holes on a couple of them just to get a good alignment. Also I think I used a little putty to hold the clips in place on some of them. Sometimes it takes little fingers to hold some of them so putty might help. I installed a flexfit so there's some movement in the bumper cover. 1/4-20 bolts are way to big. Those offset clips are for areas that have other stuff in the way where you can't use the centered clips.

i did both bumpers last year, and used the same retainers from willcox. here's a tip, use good 2 sided tape or something stickey to hold the retainers in the bumper covers where you can't really get to them, to stop them from falling out when putting it on, especially on the front top. saves a lot of frustration. also i cut down an old box wrench to allow getting into tight areas. you may also have to trim one edge of some to get them to fit into the new cover correctly. i also cut the threaded part on some to let me get the nuts on. it's easy to overtighten, so i used double nuts on them. and last tip, patience.
