SS Brake Lines
I may as well do this too. You know the story. I have been doing this the whole time on this front suspension rebuild. I now have the engine and tranny out and have plans to go through the tranny. Gotta round up a new clutch. The engine is on the stand waiting on me to put it back in. The control arms are being blasted so powder coat can go on. All bushings are waiting.
This is where my next might as well do it now comes in. I am looking for the hard line that comes from the master cylinder to each front caliper. Where to get these and how much should I be looking at paying for these. Thanks for any help.
Actually, the lines from the MC go to the pressure differential switch (the brass block on the driver's side near the front of the chassis). From there, the hard lines go to a point near the a-arms, where you pick up with the rubber flexible lines.
As to where to get them, any of the reputable Vette suppliers have them in either regular or stainless. I got mine at Zip.
From: Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean people aren't out to get me...

Re: SS Brake Lines (Eddie 96)
Ed you're right though, with the engine out, now is a good time to change these lines. It's the old domino effect. Last year I had my front suspension apart and wanted to change the brake line too but they're frozen to the distribution block! There is absolutely NO leverage room with the engine in the bay to get these loose. I'll need to cut the lines, remove the block, put the block in a vise & get some real leverage on the fittings! Anyway, my front lines are good for now. If and when I swap to the BB I plan on switching the lines then.
I did replace the rear line with SS and SS braided lines from Riks Vettes last year. I think I paid $150 for the complete brake line set and about $65 for the SS braided lines.

Re: SS Brake Lines (1970 Stingray)
Thanks for the pointers guys.
Len, I bought the stainless braided hoses for all four wheels. The rears came off easy and went on easy. The front are a totally different story though. I cannot get the line to come loose from the flexible rubber hose. I even have only used line wrenches. I am now soaking in PB Blaster hoping for good luck. Maybe this afternoon I will get after it again. I will check out Riks for what I need. I have a catalog but hardly ever use it.
