My diff, half shafts, and T/A's are at Vansteel for rebuild currently. I want to keep my steel spring since it still has decent arch when installed. But, the spring is dirty and needs some clean-up & paint.
I think the clean up & re-paint is pretty straight forward, but I don't know what to do about the spring liners. I haven't seen replacement spring liners of the same material available from the popular vendors for a '79. I'm guessing this is due to a change in liner material starting with the '78 model year.
So, for those of you who have done this type of thing, what did you use to replace the worn / broken liners?
Years ago I had my 79 steel 9 leaf rearched and added a leaf. The spring shop ask if i wanted the plastic separators. I said no, the new setup did not have the ugly old plastic. It was some king of squeak prevention or something
