Does anybody know if it matters which way the vacuum hoses are placed onto the ports on the headlight switch?
One instruction sheet I have shows the hose coming from the engine going to the rear port and then a hose from the front port going to the override valve.
Another set of instructions shows the engine vacuum hose going to the headlight switches front port and the override valve from the rear port.
I'm currently installing the upper dash pad and when in place it would be difficult to swap the hoses over if I have them wrong.
I also cannot start the engine at the moment to check its operation.
Thanks.
Brad
It does matter. The PO of my 71 had them backwards and they didn't work. I had to pull the dash just to swap the hoses. I believe the blue hose from the override switch connects to the front (toward front of car) port. I would double check before closing up the dash.

Hi,
The 71 AIM drawing, (and the one Pete posted, but his notes corrected), does show the blue striped hose going to the wrong port on the headlight switch.
The 71 Chassis Service Manual shows the correct position.
Blue stripe.... front port.
Willcox shows the correct routing.
It's caused problems for more than a few people!!!!
