Default Windows

Both my passenger and driver side windows on my '70 convertible take quite a bit of effort to roll up and down (their manual windows). Also, the glass seems kind of "wobbly" when all the way up. You can wiggle the glass back and forth when their all the way up by about 1" to 1-1'2" (sway at the top of the glass). Before I take off the door panels, I'd like to know what I'm getting myself into...I can see this being (another) one of those projects that is a lot more involved than you think (aren't they all?). Has anyone had a similar problem, and if so what fixed it?

Thanks.

Default Re: Windows (Motor City Vette)

I had a very similar problem with mine - even noticed that the glass would go forward and backward when rolled up completely. I looked at every adjustment point on the door, looked through all the instructions on how to adjust travel, etc., but nothing seemed to make the situation better. Here's what I found - when I took off the door panel and started looking around the glass attachment points, I saw that the front of the window was attached by a bolt through a spacer that came from the far side of the glass, that is, I couldn't see the bolt head, but could reach it when the window was halfway down by curling my fingers up under the front edge of the glass. The bolt was VERY loose. I could get a small wrench up in there (7/16?) and tighten it with very little effort. Voila! Windows work fine now. If you haven't already, check all your adjustment points and make sure your attachment bolts are all tightened. You may find this is not such an awful situation. Best of luck :)
