Default 71 A/C question

Looking to get some better air flow out of the stock system. Will the updated blower setup from a 78 to 82 fit without modification? Is it worth it.?

Thanks
Ron

Have you been inside (looked) your evaporator box? Mine was filled with pine needles plugged everything up.

Havent got into it yet. Wanted to see what most peoples experience has been with this issue. Seems most have moded in a higher output blower motor. Im in Florida and the stock system is basically useless in the summer. Makes the car undriveable.

Not all blower motors are the same I took a current delco motor out of a 72 replaced it with a siemens from ecklers twice the air flow. I dont know what brand they sell now but lots of parts stores can get siemens motors.

When that car was new, there was plenty of airflow. Either the plenum is clogged up with debris (leaves, etc) and/or your present blower is worn out. Either way, you have to remove the blower. Once you've done that, you can clear out any collected debris. Then stick in a replacement blower. Caution!! The 'standard' replacement blower motors are really chinzy. Compare what you now have to the replacements and make sure you get something comparable. You can also decide if you want to put a C4 fan on it so that it blows even more air.

78-82 set up is essentially the same as yours. You might want to consider swapping in a C4 squirrel cage fan. You will need a 1/2" spacer for the swap.

Is the 78 to 82 a updated design? Does it produce more air flow than earlier versions? Will it fit without a spacer?
