so it's cruise night tonight and i was driving along and this stupid ambulance goes through a red light and the people infront of me slam on their breaks so they wouldn't get t-boned, and guess what happened next... i slam on my breaks and rear end them and umong other things my nose kind of went under their bumper. so now my whole nose clip is pretty much ruined.. all the paint has hairline flactures in it and the rest of the paint is falling off now... :cuss This is the worst day ever.. but i guess it could have been worse.. at least no one was injured.. and i got them better then they got me :mad
Wait a minute here. You are mad because YOU rear-ended someone else, and you want to put the blame on someone else (ambulance)? Come on now. Either your car is not up to speed in the braking department, or you were following too close, or you were not paying attention.
Even if it was raining...no excuse.
I feel sorry for your car, and not trying to come down hard on you, but let the blame go where it really belongs.

Sorry Justin, you'll get no sympathy from me either.
First, did the ambulance have it's red lights and siren on? Were you following too close?
And what's with the statement that at least no one was injured? Obviously someone was or where was the ambulance going to? Someone either in the ambulance was on their way to the hospital or the ambulance was on the way to help someone hurt. Put yourself in that persons shoes. Wouldn't you want to have the ambulance get there as fast as they can?
Don't get me wrong. I don't mean to scold you. In my proffesion, I have seen Emergency Vehicles get a little on the un-safe side of driving. But I have seen a lot more drivers that totally ignore Emergency Vehicles altoghther.
So next time, cut the Emergency Vehicle some slack. They are there to help people, and next time, it just might be someone you know or yourself.
Hey Justin....I'm totally bummed for you, I can just imagine how you feel right now, but take some pictures and send them to the site I am linking below....you'll feel better if you go there and look around, trust me..... http://www.wreckedexotics.com/
C'mon guys, let's cut our friend Justin a little slack here. None of us were there and he was in an accident. The very fact that the cars in front of Justin had to "SLAM ON THEIR BRAKES" says to me that the ambulance may have been less that cautious. What would have happened if the cars hadn't slammed on their brakes... possibly an ambulance accident?
No matter what the cause, Justins car is damaged and I hope him the best with the repairs.
I once was behind an ambulance (yes - I caught up to it) being blocked in the fast lane of a four lane road. The asses in front of him wouldn't get over. So the ambulance decides to drive through the median and drive in the fast lane (and a couple foot shoulder) going the wrong way on the opposite side against oncoming traffic. Yes, the cars in front were wrong but was the ambulances course of action safe?

C'mon guys. Let's not get all self-righteous. It was an "accident", that's why they call them accidents. Anyone who claims they've never taken their eye off the road for a few seconds or did something that could have caused an accident is a liar. :bs And anyone who's been in an accident that they could have avoided, and claims that they didn't try to shift some blame onto somebody else is a liar too. :bs We've all done it. "If that truck wasn't parked there, I would have seen him coming", or "If he was going the speed limit, I could have made it across the intersection", or maybe "If the cars in front of me had seen or heard the ambulance coming and slowed to a stop instead of slamming on their brakes, I wouldn't have rear-ended them". And honestly, some of them actually carry some merit. Accidents usually occur when more than one person is being stupid. The ambulance driver could have been taking unecessary risk, the people in front of him could have realized that there was an ambulance and slowed to a stop, and yes, he could have had a little more room between him and the car in front. Who knows. I wasn't there.
Sorry to hear about your car. Hopefully insurance will make her good as new. :blueangel:
Thats a lousy break, happend once to me too. when you go to auto pac make sure you explain the situation because they may want to tag you 100% at fault for this one. Let us know how the repairs go on the front end.
Ya i'm figuring thay are gonna slap it on me.. there really wasn't that much damage to either car.. and the other one was a rusty old tercel so i'm probably just going to either pay for the repairs or just see if they want to call it even..
Sorry to hear about that Justin. Folks, regardless of whether or not he was following to closely, it hurts to have something happen to your Corvette. Wouldn't you be angry too? I know I would.
My wife was in my 68 Firebird and got in an accident. It truly was an accident, although the error in judgement was definitely hers. She tried to pass a slowpoke Saturn in a gravel-filled lane that disappears in a hundred feet and merges to one lane. The butt in front of the Saturn floored it, so my wife floors it too because she's running out of lane. Well, that's like driving on ball bearings, so she goes into a fishtail and doesn't know how to correct. She slid sideways into another car in the oncoming lane and made a mess of things.
So this cop comes up to the window just about the time I heard about it and arrived at the scene. The first thing out of his mouth was, "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!!!!!!!"...Not, are you hurt, or what happened here.
It sucks to be in an accident in a car you've sweat blood restoring or building. It sucks more when people are quick to assign blame like that cop did to my wife right off the bat.
So let's cut Justin a little slack. Maybe he was following too closely. Maybe a lot of things. But whatever the reason, his Vette was trashed, and I'd be pissed too.
...Justin, maybe this is an opportunity to freshen up the paint on the front half of the car now.
well turns out they didn't really have much damage either, so we called it even.. now i just gotta repaint the front clip.. it needed it anyways even before the little "fender bender". my dad hit a few poles with it a few years back and chipped the paint pretty bad on the corners... so it will be a good time to get it looking like new again along with the engine rebuild i'm about to get
That stinks about the car :( . I had a similar situation happen to me in my old 442 - everyone in front of me jammed on the brakes and I was the one who hit the guy in front of me. I think it's a good example of the difference between today's and yesterday's technology in brakes! Everyone in front of me seemed to stop moving real quick, while as hard as I stood on the brakes, I just couldn't keep the car from moving forward. I upgraded my pads and stepped up to a power set-up after that. I know it's hard in today's traffic, but I try and leave a little extra room in front of my older 'Vette when I'm out driving now. I know that newer cars with their anti-lock brakes can stop better than I can. :yesnod:
Justin just a question. Was the Ambulance running Hot? You know Lights and sirens? I'm just asking because a little while back we had something similar happen around here. An ambulance ran though the red light with a siren, but no lights. It caused a little fender bender just like what happened to you. Well to keep it short all three cars in the accident got free body and paintwork done via the county. I to like emsrescu get to drive an ambulance every once and awhile when I'm not in back working that is.
Any ways sorry to hear about the car.
