I just went to the local Auto paint store to get the paint for my 79. I was wanting to paint it the new 2002 vette Electron Blue color. He said he would need the paint code to mix it.
Other than finding a 2002 vette and getting the code can anyone suggest another source for the code.
He should have a book their that he can look up the code for you....if you went to a Auto Paint supply store...like a PPG outlet. If not....maybe a post on the C5 forum would help you out. I think Pats406 here fromt he C3 forum has Electron Blue on his 73...he may know the code too. Another good source would be a corvette black book....if its updated through 02.
Thanks ZORA_RULES I just posted at the C5 forum, maybe they will provide the code.
By the way I was at the English Color supply house by you on Hwy 78 in Garland and for some reason the gentleman didn't offer any help on locating the color code for me. Maybe he had a bad weekend. Who Knows!
Thanks again!

Maybe...I never knew that one existed! I just saw it, after I pretty much had my car finished. I normally go to the English Color of of Plano Rd and Plano Pkwy in Plano. I knew the name of your town looked familar. Budman78 and I were planning on coming out to Redline a few weeks ago to get some times in...that's close to you isn't it? (unfortunatley our plans got ruined due to rain that day)
To clarify....... BOTH codes are correct.
21U is the RPO code WA779 is a paint code.
Your local paint supplier should have a paint chip book that they can look it up on. Your supplier asked for a code to make sure that you get the correct paint color. I used to work in the paint and body supply business. Just because the manufacturer like GM calls it Electron Blue, doesn't mean that the paint manufacturer (Dupont, PPG, etc) calls it by the same name. with a GM code then there is no question that you get the correct color that you want.
DaBo: Thanks for the information. I will be safe and take both codes tomorrow to get the paint. Thanks again.
ZORA_RULES: I live about 3-4 miles from Redline. If you and Budman head this way to Race some weekend let me know. I would love to watch fellow forum members Race.
Will do...maybe we'll hook up at a local show here soon. I went to a cruise in Sat night in Garland at Ron's Hamburgers...pretty cool. Btw...I've never drag raced in my life, and never run my vette. I just recently went through the repaint process myself and got the car back road worthy in the last few months. I do want to run it some time..to see what she'll do...redline looks like a nice close track...I hope to get out there before too much longer..will let you know when we can make it...like to check out your ride..any pics?

ZORA_RULES: I have any few before paint pics which show the wear and tear of 20 years on the exterior but after the repaint I will be sure and get plenty.
I have not run at a strip in many years but I might also give it a try at Redline.
