Hi guys,I have a 1976 Stingray and we all know just how ugly the vega style steering wheels are in this year.My question is,My steering colume is in need of replacing and I was wondering if there is another year Vette that will work in my 76?You know as far as the wiring harness hooking up correctly?Any help would be very appriciated,Thanks
Any standard (non-adjustable) or T&T Corvette steering column from 1969 through 1976 will fit your 1976 Stingray. Your "Vega" steering wheel is not tied to your 1976 column. You can install Corvette steering wheels from 1969-75 and 1977-82 to any of those Corvette steering columns.
You will need a steering wheel hub, upper horn contact, and horn cap to go with the all of the above steering wheels. If you decide on a T&T column you will also need the extension, telescope lock, upper and lower horn contact, and horn parts to go with the steering wheel.

If you note my picture above. The steering wheel bolts onto the hub assembly with six screws. Your 1976 "Vega" steering wheel has a hub already molded into the steering wheel. So when you want a new steering wheel (Corvette OEM, or aftermarket) you have to come up with either the GM hub, or some aftermarket hub, or an adapter kit to adapt the new steering wheel to your 1976 steering column.
I think that some aftermarket suppliers have difficulty adapting their steering wheels to Corvette T&T columns. I had a new 1976 Corvette with a T&T steering column. As soon as the 1977 Vettes came out with the leather wrapped steering wheel I used 1977 parts as shown in the above blowup to install the much improved wheel on my 1976 T&T.
Do you have a T&T column or do you have a standard (non-adjustable) column? It makes some difference when you talk about adapting to your 1976 column.
