So, as I'm going along troubleshooting the wiper door on my 68 (pointing towards elec wiring at this point as everything on the vacc side is working when troubleshooting -I digress) now my !#@@ headlights won't pop up. They do when I trigger the bypass push/pull but not when I turn on the headlight switch
They worked just fine last week...does this indicate a bad headlight switch?
yup, havent touched any of the headlights vacc lines. all i know is they worked last week, and now they dont, and i didnt touch the car at all... i will take the headlight switch out and see. just frustrating that they decided not to work for no reason.
neet!
I'm pretty certain it's my headlight switch, as I was getting vacc out of the blue striped line even when I pulled the headlight switch to the "on" position. I'll pull it out and test it.
Those things ARE brittle...I got the one that's on there now from another member on the forum, because the one that came with the car was all messed up inside. The plastic inside likes to break, causing vacuum issues.
Actually no, I may need to re-read this.. but I thought the OP said he was working on his wiper door and now the headlamps will only open when he pulls the over-ride. I'd better go re-read... I'm famous for reading things incorrectly.

Now I'm know I'm only 1/2 way to crazy.... I got side tracked with a wiper motor thread on C2.. Wonder what is wrong with his wiper motor system too... As much as I hate it.. (I'm not a big fan of 68 wiper motor issues) I can help him fix that problem.
I know when I had it, with the override switches in neutral/off/whatever, I would turn on the wiper via the dash switch...the door would open and the wiper motor would turn (had no arms connected). But in order to get the door to close and stay closed again, I would have to "time it" and get it exactly right when I turned the switch off. If I turned the switch off not at "that exact moment" then the door would stay open or would go back open, can't remember which. But I found that if I played with it, I would eventually turn the switch off at the exact moment it needed to be, in order for the door to close and stay closed.
As for headlights, I never had any problems with them after I replaced all the hoses and fittings.. Well, the left headlight would come up a tad slower than the right, but it probably just needed to be cleaned on that side.
