I need DOT approved tyres for street / road circuit use.
How would they perform on a road race circuit?
There doesn't seem to be much choice in 15's with an overall diameter similar to what I have (looking for around ~27")
I have a pair of M/T ET street radials in 17's that I have used with my ute (sports truck). They should be OK for drag strip use. I just need to get some 17" rims to suit the vette stud pattern.
What IS available in DOT approved 15" road circuit performance tyres?
I'm thinking that a complete set of 17" or 18" rims and tyres will be the best solution, but this may take some time to acquire.
Hoosier makes some great tires, no doubt. Unfortunately they give very strong warnings against using their track tires on public roads, especially highways. They also warn that their street tires, Pro Street Radials, are "designed for highway use and are not suitable for racing purposes". Ultimately if the OP is serious about roadracing he's probably better off getting a set of track tires and a different set of tires for the street. In the 17-18" sizes there are a few high performance street tires that can also do a fair job at the track but they will still definitely be outperformed by dedicated track tires.
