1968 column swap into my 72. Any potential problems?
Hi I have a highly modified 72 coupe with a very sloppy T/T column. I bought a 68 lower dash pad to install a push button start/stop system in the car. If I buy the Ididit 1968 tilt column I can avoid the column locking system. What potential issues do you think I will have as to wiring? Any feedback on solutions?
I have no knowledge about the ididit 68 column but the original 68 columns have a "C" shaped wiring harness connector for the turn signal and horn button. 69 Up have a straight wiring harness connector. I hope that this helps you.
Installed the Ididit tilt column in the 68 and it fits and works great.
They give you a converter harness & plug to hook the flat connector to the curved 68 turn signal switch connector
You may want to verify that the under dash mounting points are the same for the 68 and the later years. The Ididit column is 68 specific.
Thanks guys, I did see the connector on the Mid America site but wasn't sure if I had to pirate any other connectors off an old 68 harness. From what I hear the Ididit columns are sweet.
