1977 courtesy light mounting bracket

I can't see a way to logically install the courtesy light mounting bracket under the driver's side dash. Does anyone have a pic, or good explanation?

Welcome to the forum! My first piece of advice would be to purchase the AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) for your year car from one of the vendors here. It shows how every piece of the car was put together on the assembly line.

bulb goes toward hood release,mounts to the back of the dash.You should see a small plastic boss with a hole for a phillips screw.
