Re: gasga-cinch,anybody use this stuff (derv3tt3)
I use it on my fuel pumps and goose necks. It's pretty good stuff. Seals well and also help to hold the gasket in place while mounting. Never used it on an intake though. Don't see why it wouldn't work. You apply it to a gasket and let it dry(5-10min). Once dry, its sorta like rubber cement.
I used it on my intake, just like the Edlebrock instructions said and it worked well. I used a product made by Permatex instead of Edelbrock's product. Small blue/white/orange can of red stuff that comes with a brush built in the top. It's sold at any auto parts store. I use it on almost all my gaskets and none of them leak.
Only downside is that if used with paper gaskets, they are almost impossible to get off. I used it on the timing cover gasket and had to scrape it off with a razor blade.
I use Valco Hylamar gasket dressing and maker. Made under licence to Rolls Royce. I've bought it at Pep Boys.
This is the only stuff that has worked succesfully for me on auto trans cover gaskets to prevent leaks. I use it on all my engine gaskets that i use sealant on. It also comes apart pretty good without destroying the gasket and not hard to clean up
LOL BOB
I use it a lot. First used it on VW engine cases that have no gasket. It's a bear to get off, though. I also use 3M weatherstrip adhesive and hi-temp oil resistant silicone form-a-gasket. The three pretty much cover my needs.
Thanks for all of the replies,i bought a can tonight. The last 2 times I removed the intake the bottom part of the gasket against the head had oil underneath, thats why the question. What about the front and back of the intake? I bought Permatex gold but not sure about using it. :chevy
