Trans cooler lines.
I have an 82 & I just started to remove the engine, I removed the radiadator and noticed two short rubber lines that conneced the hard steel lines. Is this correct. I was always under the impression that rubber lines won't hold up to the pressure a transmission puts out. If these were spliced I would want to replace them with new ones. Which is correct?

The rubber lines are correct. You will notice that the hard lines will have a bulge near the end where the rubber fits over it if they are the correct hard lines. The bulge keeps the rubber line from coming off because it is clamped after it has gone over the bulge.

76 Ray has it right. Learned on my 78 when replacing the lines that a previous owner had installed some heavy duty hydraulic lines that were overkill. Research showed that the original tranny lines have lip or bulge. If you replace hoses, don't forget to use only oil transmission hose. Good Year makes it and if you get a transmission hose kit, they'll include both hose and correct clamps.

Thanks guys I have down the street from my shop a guy that specializes in hydraulic hoses. He mentioned he just built himself a set of braided tranny lines. I think I'm gonna look into that before I go back to rubber.
